NorthStar delivers consistently high-quality services both during and beyond the transition.

For medical system leaders, the decision to switch anesthesia services management partners is significant. Anesthesia is a complex, yet critical, component of delivering holistic healthcare services and, if not handled correctly, transitioning between management partners has the potential to interrupt staffing and ultimately impact patient care.

Since anesthesiology is integral to the surgical and perioperative care process, successfully managing the transition between management providers is particularly critical, especially in an environment where demand for anesthesia services is on the rise, yet there is a shortage of qualified providers.

As such, when surveying the landscape of anesthesiology services management providers, medical administrators are well-advised to place a premium on selecting a partner that has an established track record of overseeing practice transitions that do not disrupt day-to-day operations. A management provider that can quickly establish a strong working relationship across all stakeholder groups, while also raising the standard of patient care, will yield the greatest result. NorthStar Anesthesia brings this record of success. By providing high-quality, customized anesthesia services tailor-made for the specific needs of each of our partners, we are leading the industry in improving the delivery of innovative, patient-centered anesthesiology care.

NorthStar’s significant experience allows us to leverage best practices to ensure that transitions are smooth and successful.

NorthStar employs a robust, results-oriented strategy that spans the entire lifecycle of the transition process. Through our experience in successfully facilitating over 170 practice transitions, we are uniquely aware of how to adeptly navigate any issues that may arise. We begin the process by conducting a proprietary comprehensive risk assessment to help understand the nuances around transitioning anesthesia services at a local site, including existing employment arrangements, leadership structures, and recruitment needs. From the outset, we also begin planning how to effectively communicate the transition to relevant stakeholder groups.

Once this preliminary work is completed, NorthStar then works in lockstep with local facility leadership to ensure that the transition is completed with minimal impact to existing operations, including:

• Hosting weekly checkpoints with clinical and operational leaders to ensure alignment among all parties.
• Connecting with key surgeons and proceduralists to discuss priorities in the transition and provide transparency into the progress of the transition.
• Arranging meetings with HR, IT, Recruiting, and Credentialing specialists to ensure each patient care provider has the most seamless possible experience throughout the transition period.
• Supplementing existing supervisors with on-site NorthStar leaders until a permanent, post-transition management structure is established.

Key to NorthStar’s model is our dedicated Transition Team’s industry-leading project management expertise.

NorthStar’s Transition Team is the foundation for our success in anesthesia management transitions across the country. Led by our Senior Director of Integration, the team, which includes more than 35 cross-functional participants, facilitates every stage of a practice transition. We develop a tailor-made, comprehensive change management playbook to help prepare for NorthStar’s successful “Go Live” at a new partner site.

  • Leveraging multi-channel communications for target audiences.
